in i0207 I have a target editor open in the Java perpsecitve and the editor is too wide. The right side of the content is cut off by the outline view such that a horizontal scroll bar is needed. Grabbing the outline | editor sash and dragging you can see the editor resize (correctly) for a split second and then revert back to being too wide. For the content on the Outline page of the editor there ought not be much of a width limit.
I don't have the problem on XP :/ Can you please attach a screenshot?

I haven't seen this at all in the new editor. Closing as WORKSFORME.
Created attachment 133297 [details] screen shot of the problem on Mac There has been no decernible change. The problem still happens. I'll attach a shot from the Mac
Reopening. I have seen similar issues with vertical space on linux. Could easily be caused by something lower level than PDE since as far as I know we just create a composite the fills the area the form gives us.
most likely a Forms issue
bumping to RC1 I'm not sure if this is a Forms or SWT issue. Kevin, any ideas?
I suppose it's a layout issue. If it's happening on mac and windows I don't think that SWT would be to blame. Some widget's size must getting computed (or set) to be wide. I'd start by figuring out which control is causing the width to be so big.
