I20080129-1400 In some scenarios, it is still apparent that a breadcrumb item is not available as the current workbench window selection. When I e.g. select a package or a source folder and then invoke File > Export... > File System, the default selection is the editor's file, not the selected folder. Likewise, my 'External Tools' launch configuration 'Windows Explorer' (Location: 'C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe', Arguments: '/E,/select=${resource_loc}') uses the edited file as ${resource_loc}, not the selected folder from the breadcrumb. This is probably an unfixable consequence of the current implementation inside the editor. I'm still opening it as a dependency target for similar bugs and to keep this issue in mind when considering implementation alternatives.
