Description Chris Aniszczyk CLA 2008-01-04 14:24:29 EST
There are two contributions to the PDE Tools menu which I don't really think should be there.

1) Open Plug-in Manifest
2) Open Plug-in Dependencies

There's much easier ways to do this than going to the PDE Tools menu. These probably haven't been used much too.

There you go Wassim.

just removal of actions patch

I'm guessing you were hoping for something more than just the removal of the actions from the plugin.xml? - Sorry, had a few minutes available to play whilst waiting for my chilli to stew a little ;-)

Were you hoping for the actual action classes to be deleted and the message resource files to be cleaned up as well?

Hey Les, thanks for the patch. You are getting quick :)

Unfortunately, when removing functionality from PDE we do try to remove any unused code/references. Therefore, if you get some time (and are still interested in fixing this bug), please do your best to find/remove any code that we no longer need :) Thanks!

see bug 133692 for why the Open Plug-in Manifest was added.

As for Open Plug-in Dependencies, I am not sure what better alternative you have.
The only way to open that view is to go through Window > Show View > Other... > Plug-in Development > Plug-in Dependencies.

I recommend we focus our efforts on more pressing issues and not solve a crisis that does not exist.

Brian, I'm happy to finish off the bug by doing a proper clean up... assuming that this is still wanted.

I'll hold off for now until someone confirms that we do indeed want to remove these items.

Les, thanks for your efforts on this bug.

As Wassim pointed out, this is not a priority. I was unaware of the background of 'Open Manifest' (thanks Wassim). Removing 'Open Dependencies' would require users to go through more steps to get the same functionality. Therefore, we are going to leave this one be for a while and possibly come back to it later with a different plan.

I don't see any reason to remove these two actions. If anyone feels that they should go, feel free to reopen.
