The Open Type dialog occasionally shows items that are not filtered by the given search string.

This seems to happen if the user types a pattern starting with a wildcard quickly when the dialog is first used.

It's very hard for us to do something here, because we can't reproduce the problem. Steps to reproduce would be very welcome.

Some questions to narrow down the conditions:
- Did you enter a . in the pattern before this happened? We have fixed a bug in the 3.4 stream which caused wrong filtering with package patterns.
- Is the filter applied if you wait a bit? Bug 193571 discusses a problem with filtering delays (solved in 3.4 stream).
- Did you type in the pattern, or did you copy-paste it?

Sorry I don't have anything more specific. I've seen this behaviour periodically, but I haven't been able to reproduce it reliably. As I've said above, it seems to happen on first invocation. I believe that something about indexing is shown in the status text.

No. Only '*' followed by a pattern.

I don't think so. It took me about ten minutes to take a screen shot, enter the bug, and then attach it. In that time results didn't update.

> - Did you type in the pattern, or did you copy-paste it?

  I typed the pattern.

OK, thanks. Now let's try to find out whether only the re-filtering in the dialog is broken, or whether it could be a problem with the search engine:

After you got into that state, what happens if you type another character? Does this correctly refresh the list?

If not, is the list correctly refreshed when you insert a character (not a *) at the beginning of the pattern?

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
