We have found the "simple" search function in IPZilla to be unreliable as have a number of committers. To ensure that committers are directed to a search page that is reliable and illustrates the full functionality of the searches available to committers, I would like to remove the simple search box from the IPZilla header and instead provide a re-direct to the advanced search page from this location.
After review of the IPZilla components in queue, we are adjusting the priority of this bug to reflect its relative importance in the new expanded list.
Created attachment 119408 [details] Screenshot If I understand correctly, you want me to remove both Search boxes on the header and footer, and redirect the Search link to the Advanced Search form? If so, the only drawback I see is that these small search fields are useful for typing in a CQ number and going to it directly. For instance, how would you go directly to CQ 1234 ?
Denis: Good catch - we didn't think of that. We absolutely need the ability to search by CQ Number - in fact we rely quite heavily on being able to do so. Is there any way to adjust the text label for the search boxes instead? Thanks, Sharon
Absolutely. If we agree that we currently have this: * Home * | New * | Search * | [__________] [Find] * | Reports * | My Requests * | Preferences * | Log out * | Terms of Use How about we add "Jump to CQ #:" like this: * Home * | New * | Search * | Jump to CQ #: [____________] [Go] * | Reports * | My Requests * | Preferences * | Log out * | Terms of Use
FANTASTIC +1 and I'm representing all of us here in IPville. Thanks, Sharon
I've done this on IPZillaTest - https://foundation.eclipse.org/ipzillatest/ - changed the 'find' box to Jump to CQ #: - changed the home page search box to the same as above - hacked query.cgi to only use the advanced search - removed the specific search from the UI Please let me know if that works, and I'll publish these changes to the real IPZilla and we'll be done here.
I've tried it out...looks good +1. Sharon
This is live.
