Description Sharon Corbett CLA 2007-10-23 16:04:52 EDT
EMO and Webmaster continue to receive questions from committers regarding the status of their account based on Portal records. For new committers, they seem to be unsure if they have completed all requirements (reminders for paperwork and submissions can overlap)which adds to some confusion. Existing committers continue to submit online questionnaires even though they are not required and then email Webmaster wondering when their rights will be arranged.

Would a separate notification to committers when the NCRF is populated advising that processing of committer accounts can take a few days be a potential solution? Perhaps adding the notation to the NCRF itself will be sufficient but it seems they are already missing information on that notfication.

Proposal:

Committer accounts typically take eight to ten business days to be processed. Processing begins following the receipt of the last required document for new committers and confirmation by EMO Legal of existing paperwork for existing committers.

I realize this does not address the overlap issue but it may cut down on some of the questions. The eight to ten days should provide EMO Legal and Webmaster sufficient time to process and would set expectations appropriately.

Thoughts/Comments? Is this a potential solution?

Regards,
Sharon

+1 on a solution that cuts down on the number of queries from new committers wondering when they will be provisioned, if we received their paperwork, etc. I'm not sure how this could best be implemented, but it would be a nice thing to have.

We now required a valid Bugzilla or committer email address be used at nomination time and the Portal allows Bugzilla logins. That will let the potential committer actually log in to the Portal before they are accepted as a committer. That will allow us to move the ICQ and MCQ into the Portal, and will also allow us to make a little display like Sharon/Anne/PMC members/Project leads have for what the status of the election is. All emails to the candidate can point to the portal and say to login using the Bugzilla ID or committer ID used in the nomination. That should hopefully cut down on questions.

Great! This should be very helpful.

Anyone who is involved in an ongoing election can now get the status of their election by logging in to the Portal.
