Image selection in the branding tab of the product configuration editor doesn't support PNGs. It is possible to manually enter the path to a PNG file but the 'Browse' dialog filters everything but GIF files. Since it's possible to use PNGs and GIFs, the 'Browse' dialog should filter out everything but GIFs and PNGs.
