More information:
IMHO this is a very important step to make Eclipse comparable to Visual Studio for Windows developers. It would be very cool if the (freely available) Microsoft C/C++ Compiler could be used with debugging support. Even if it's possible CDT the primary focus lies on cygwin/mingw, which are not very mature and actively developed (for example there is after years still no port of gcc 4 for windows). This is perhaps the only real reason to stay with Visual Studio for many windows developers.
