+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #8655 +++

The solution for 8655 do not work with a ClearCase-based project.

Attempting to create a symlink within the project fails in the following eclipse message:
"Project 'project' is mapped to repository type 'com.rational.clearcase.ccprovider_nature' which does not support linked resources."

A solution is needed _especially_ for this content system as there is significant overhead to putting temporary files within the directories managed by ClearCase.
