Version: 3.3.0 Build id: I20070410-1043 J2RE 5.0 IBM J9 2.3 Windows XP x86-32 build j9vmwi3223-20070201 Running Eclipse against the monster workspace: closed a single project (right-click org.eclipse.update.configurator --> close project) Close operation sounded like hanging and took more than one minute. I'll attach jvm snapshots Restarted the workbench and tried to re-open the project I just closed: same issue --> the operation took a lot of time (to_be_attached snapshots)

Actually, the cause of this bug is the same as in bug 145329 (i.e. source attachment is the root of the slowness). Marking this bug as a dup of bug 145329 since bug 145329 is the oldest. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 145329 ***
Eric can you please try your scenario with the patch attached to bug 145329 and report here whether it improves opening/closing of a project ?
