The tutorial is nice, but after the first 50 or so times of using the editor I think I get along without it ;-) Seriously, I think the user should be able to disable this intro page and come to the point more quickly.
Created attachment 58142 [details] patch to allow user to disable faces-config editor intro page This patch adds a property to the faces-config editor preference page and to the intro page itself to disable this intro page.
Updating target to RC0.
Consider for 3.0
Mysteriously this seems to have partly fixed itself without being noticed ;-) There is now a preference for showing the intro page, but no hint for that on the intro page itself. While this is not strictly necessary, I find it much more convenient to have this preference also on the intro page (just as the "don't ask next time" switch on most confirmation dialogs. Introducting help can be really helpful, but it very quickly gets very annoying if it repeatedly gets in the way and you have to actually spend time on changing this). At least there should be a comment on the page telling where it can be disabled.
Created attachment 64531 [details] patch adds preference to intro page itself This patch adds the existing preference to the intro page itself. Quite low risk, I think, if page is disposed properly (listens to preference changes).
Patch applied at HEAD.
