Would be nice if syntax coloring would allow selection of background color for each item.

There are very little color to choose from, this would allow a much wider range of possibility.

This is a duplicate of this bug: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=6712
Comment 2 Anton Leherbauer CLA 2010-03-26 06:05:45 EDT
It's not really a duplicate because the other bug is for JDT, but it is certainly related and the same arguments against it apply also here.

I'd like to see this ability.

An example use case is described in bug 487764 comment 1 (the "more involved approach").

More generally, a foreground color and a background color could signify two orthogonal pieces of information about a token.
