Description Pierre Carlson CLA 2006-09-14 14:11:54 EDT
The PDE seems to treat the -application and the -product command line options as mutually exclusive. For example, in the launcher I can pick only "Run a product" or "Run an application." In the product editor I can select both an application and a product, but when I launch a product configuration that has entries for both, only the -product value is passed in.

The docs on the command line arguments don't seem to indicate that these are mutually exclusive options.

So, if they are not mutually exclusive the PDE should not treat them as such. If they are, the product editor should work the same as the launch configuration UI.

Interesting. I do not believe that are mutually exclusive. In essences the set of applications available to run are all those in the plugins listed by the product. Products define a default application but you should be able to run eclipse -product foo -application bar.

Has this been looked at for 3.4?
Comment 3 Chris Aniszczyk CLA 2008-03-27 14:24:29 EDT
hasn't been looked for 3.4, patches are welcomed though to expedite the process

3.4M7 is feature freeze.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
