Steps:
- Create a geoshape
- Create a self relationship to the geoshape with line tool.
- Select the select tool and marquee select over the geoshape and line.

Result:
- Notice an extra buffer is required to select both the geoshape and line.  If you select flush with the line, then only the geoshape is selected.
