It's still too easy to accidentally move a view. A preference to lock/unlock all views to prevent/allow them from being moved or undocked accidentally would be useful. It should be possible to override locked view by a keyboard shortcut, such as holding down the ALT key whilst moving the view. View locks should probably not affect resizing of views.
Defer for consideration in v3.

There are currently no plans to work on this feature
this is a major issue with eclipse. one of the main drawbacks compared to other IDEs, mainly intelliJ. it is really counter productive to accidentally drag-and-drop a view and then waste my time restoring my layout, especially when a bunch of views are moved at once. the request is: 1) an option lock the views - can't be moved using drag & drop, but can be minimized/restored 2) an option to undo view movement (using Ctrl-Z, or Windows -> Undo Move View, or whatever you see fit)
We are re-working the perspectives with an EMF model in e4 and can probably look at this enhancement there. We would accept patches for 3.7 but won't actively look at this in that stream. PW
Remark E4: The DnDAddon defines the "NoMove" tag for a part in PartDragAgent. If it is set, drag and drop is defered.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. If the bug is still relevant, please remove the stalebug whiteboard tag.
