Description Cherie Revells CLA 2006-05-22 16:36:06 EDT
There is a workaround for this issue which is why I have set the priority to minor.

I think this is probably a GEF issue, but the GEF examples doesn't permit me to test it, so I am opening this defect on GMF first to evaluate.

Scenario:
- Create a logic diagram.
- With the mouse, show the OR gate dropdown list and select AND gate.
- Press Enter.
RESULT: An AND gate is created as expected.
- With the keyboard, navigate to the palette (shift + tab).
- Use the arrow keys to go to the AND gate dropdown list.
- Press ALT + down arrow to popup the list.
- Select XOR gate. Note that the XOR gate is selected and enabled.
- Press Enter.
RESULT: An XOR gate is NOT created, instead an AND gate is created.

WORKAROUND: If you press the spacebar after you select from the dropdown list you can create the desired shape. I don't think you should have to press the spacebar as the tools appears that it is already selected.

OK, I can't seem to get the workaround to work anymore. I can never create a shape from the drop down list. It always switches back to the default.

if you press Alt+down and then press the enter key on the choice (let's say XOR gate)...it seems you have to 'refocus' on the palette entry for the change to take effect.

by refocus, I mean to tab out and back in, or just press up arrow key and then down arrow key.

Given that there's a workaround from Syed's comment, this should be downgraded in severity...
