The rectangular overlay just take up too much realestate over the model object. A circular overlay is more dynamic in appearance and less static, blends in less will the background model object.
Created attachment 40279 [details] new smaller circular error overlay
Andree, is this for the (new) Common Navigator aka Project Explorer?
Boris, I originaly thought it would be for the workbench decorator manager. So it would change the rectangular error overlay everywhere it is used. People call on overlay from the workbench decorator manager to display pretty much any where. My summary title was misleading by suggesting just the navigator. But you are correct my primary concern is to change the overlay in the common navigator view. Does this address your question?
Tod, this looks to be decorator related...
The Navigator view is no longer under active development
The overlay is done by the JDT team.
The navigator never had error decoration. The package and project explorer have through the JDT contributions.
Created attachment 72939 [details] screenshot with new error decorator This is a screenshot of the IDE when using the new error decorator image. Our old decorator has size 7 x 8, the new one was 9 x 9 and I cut it to 8 x 8. Andre, do you want me to use the new, smaller image, or do you want to work more on it? I think it looks good, maybe a bit too prominent.
