1.5 M6 The validation property page appears on simple projects. I haven't tested it with a Java project but I assume it appears there two. The validation property page should only appear on WTP projects.
This is by design, the validation framework doesn't restricts it to the WTP projects.
It's fine not to restrict the usage of validators to a specific type of project. It is quite another to have the validators turned on for all projects. Perhaps you could have the validators turned off by default for non-web projects and turned on by default for web projects.
No, we dont intend to do so.
FYI, I've opened bug 139778 to request a validation capability that can be tuned off.
Sorry but I was a bit thrown off by the properites page appearing on all projects. I assumed that this meant that the validators were running on all projects but I now see that this is not the case (i.e. the properties page allows you to add the builder). I still think there are several issues here for which I will log separate bug reports.
This is part of a mass update to close out all stale WTP resolved bugs from the 1.0.x and 1.5.0 timeframe. If you feel this bug was closed inappropriately, please reopen. Thanks, John Lanuti
