Linking with open editors does not appear to be working.

This is a limitation in base eclipse navigator.  When they add support again, we will make sure we are tied into it.

On Windows XP, link with editor in the project explorer appears to be partially working. If you click on a file in the explorer, the correct editor window is selected. If you click on an editor, and the matching file is already visible then the file is selected in the explorer. However, if the file is not visible then the package explorer doesn't make it visibile, e.g. by expanding collapsed sections. This is a fairly common scenario when starting eclipse with open editor windows, or when creating new files via wizards.

In contrast, the package explorer is working correctly.
