Description Gwydion CLA 2006-02-22 08:44:37 EST
When I try to open any folder in my home directory as a workspace, eclipse tells me that it is locked. Before trying to open the folder there was no ".lock" file, but afterwards there is. It seems that eclipse first creates a lock file and afterwards checks for the lock and thus always fails.

My home directory is an NFS mount, other folders like /tmp work. On a different machine, with the same OS, same Eclipse, same VM (J2SE 1.5.0_03-b07 for Linux) and the same way of mounting the home directory, it works. I did an "strace" on eclipse, but it did not show any error.

Could you please give a try to eclipse 3.2 M5 and tell us if you can see the same behavior?
Comment 2 Gwydion CLA 2006-02-22 10:45:36 EST
Yes, the error still occurs with 3.2 M5.

Isn't this one a dup of bug 44735? And the bug 59780 is proposed as (not real) UI fix?
Comment 4 Thomas Watson CLA 2007-12-04 11:38:53 EST
Yes, this does look to be a dup.
