Description Ken Silveman CLA 2005-06-30 15:21:43 EDT
After creating a project it is a no-brainer that the greyed out "open project"
item under the project menu item should be selectable in the Java perspective.

That is what anyone wants to do - so why not make it active. What's the reason
there? I know of at least 10 others in my team that are also perplexed. we
want to use our projects right away without any other delays. we want to see
the project files on the left and be able to click on a file to edit right
away. To me it is such a no-brainer. Is this a bug? Can you fix this?

Further, although my projects ARE in the workspace you should NOT require that
they exist in the workspace or be "imported" to the workspace, in order for
them to be viuwable by that button "open project"

The 'Java browser' perspective is useless for my purposes. I need only
the 'Java' perspective to WORK with "open project" Please help.

I also fin that it does not make sense to force source files to be UNDER the
project folder. In that case there is no reason to have a workspace.

What if you change IDE's but do not want to replcate your source. to have
a .projetfile that is forced to be ABOVE the source is ludicrous. Why can't
the .project file be in the project folder BUT the source for the project be
located somewhere else. I tried to do this, but your navigator view seems to
ignore that fact and insists that you import the source fiules into the project
folder in order for the navigator to see them!!!! SO ANNOYING!!!! Can you fix
this?

I found that as soon as I added the 'navigator' view, the 'open project' was
selectable. But I believe it is more intuitive for 'the 'open project' always
to be selectable and present a list of available projects upon selection and
then when the approriate project is selected the navigator view automatically
opened - perhaps without the closed projects being displayed.

Why don't you use a linked folder?
