Not sure if I fully understand the ticket.

For the issue, well it is not necessary to debug, it is quite obvious. I am running on Windows and the check for the existence of the java executable is not OS independent. 😊

You could set a breakpoint at [2] and run mvnDebug to see whats going on. If there a bug, please don't hesitate to report it [3].
