[soc-dev] Introducing myself

I'd like to apply as a mentor, and see that you request that I introduce
myself first.

I've been a long-time Python committer, and contributed to a number of
free software systems over time (gcc, Wine, Firefox, Linux, ...). I
haven't actually contributed to Eclipse yet.

The reason I'd like to join your SoC is that I'm also a professor at
Beuth Hochschule, Berlin, and one of my students might want to apply.
I could also imagine a scenario where I become a co-mentor.

If, for some reason, this request is unreasonable, please let me know,
and I'll refrain from applying as a mentor.
