Re: [science-iwg] Interested in helping support Texclipse?

Count me in too. Making sure useful stuff makes it to projects and has a longer supported life, is yet another reason for the science working group to exist. I suppose another option might be the LTS working group, I am not familiar with Texclipse enough to know where it naturally sits.

All the best,

Matt

Greg,

Yes, I'll be a mentor. Mickael Istria might be interested because of his work on the new language service. I've CC'ed him.

Jay,

I’m assuming you’d be ok being a mentor? Any suggestions on who else from the architecture council to ask?

Everyone,

Very nice! I know that we had some discussions with the authors of this in the past, but the thread dropped. Greg, have you been in contact with them? If not, do you want me to reach out again?

Texclipse would make a great contribution to the Science project, but unfortunately the authors are not able to support it any more, so it is no longer being maintained. They would be happy for it to become an Eclipse project, however.

The science community would need to take on at least some level of support in order to make it a viable Eclipse project. I’m willing to help with the legal side of things (and there is always a chance it may not get approved). Other things that would need to be done include:

- Transition the build to maven (if not already done)
- Set up a CI instance on Hudson
- Manage version numbers and releases
- Deal with release reviews, documentation updates, etc
- Respond to user requests, bug reports, etc.

On the plus side, anyone signing up now will automatically become a committer on the project!

Is anyone interested in helping out with this?

Thanks,
Greg
