Re: [science-iwg] science-iwg Digest, Vol 39, Issue 20

Ok, but as mentioned there should be a Science TLP to complement this WG soon, so that means, if approved future project proposals like https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/technology.january
may look along the lines of

Would any project like January, BioClipse or others have the option to switch like we saw e.g. Mylyn and others did from Technology to Tools, Runtime etc.?

Mylyn from what I remember never changed the URL (except maybe when it was renamed from "Mylar") so it seems likely existing projects may change a TLP without changing or losing the project URL. That's among STEM's desires to keep, otherwise especially visibility in the scientific world would be welcome by the STEM project.

Though the project lead at IBM is based in the US, there are several key committers in Berlin, so should it be of interest to meet with Mike while he's likely in town next month, Matthias and others at BfR (see http://wiki.eclipse.org/The_STEM_Development_Team) would be happy to have a chat if there's time.

Hi,

That would be good to know. I only plan to attend Unconference day (as none
of the 2 sessions related to Automotive myself and another colleague from
the same team proposed are in the main conference program and May also has
a tremendous amount of holidays in Germany, so losing a whole week in June
would not be good either) but at least the Automotive WG F2F on that day is
also of interest to me. If there are agenda proposals for Science, I'd be
happy to say something about STEM given its new release in June and a
prospect of moving closer to Science especially if the IWG was to turn into
a full top level project like "Tools" or "Technology".

Cheers,
Werner

It is not correct to think of this as the IWG turning into a top-level
project. A WG and a TLP are complementary.

The charter for the Science Top-Level Project will hopefully be approved
by the Eclipse Foundation Board of Directors on tomorrow's conference call.
