Re: [science-iwg] Science Fall Release

Hi Jay,

I like the approach :-).

We would really like to participate with ChemClipse in the autumn release. But I don't know if it will work smoothly with ChemClipse cause we migrated to Eclipse e4 in mixed mode (since Eclipse 4.1) - back then, I thought this would be easier. We use an own Application.e4xmi and several fragment.e4xmi files for each plugin.

One approach would be to extend the legacy e4xmi somehow. But there's another problem regarding the toolbar items. Normally, CoreExpression can be used in the e4xmi files to enable/disable them. But there are still some bugs in the platform:

http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/452550
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=400217
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=457214
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=432856

In summary, I'll fiddle around with the legacy e4xmi and I'll try to find a solution for this issue. Hence, don't count on ChemClipse for the autumn release so far. But I'll try my best.

Cheers,
Philip

Everyone,

At our annual meeting we decided that we would like to move forward with a "fall release" for some subset of Science Working Group projects. This would be similar to the simultaneous release for Eclipse as whole, but just for our stuff. Hopefully this will start to get us prepared to join future simultaneous releases.

So far I have the following projects on the list for the release:
ICE
EAVP
Triquetrum
January

This "release" will be a coordinated release in which all participating projects
1.) prepare a working version of their product that can be dubbed release X.Y.Z.
2.) complete all IP, release review and other Foundation requirements.
3.) all artifacts for participating projects are released at the individual project sites and through links at science.eclipse.org.
4.) do whatever else Wayne Beaton says we have to do. ;-)

Release day will be 21st October 2016. I will work with Wayne to figure out other important dates, such as Release Candidate dates, that we need to keep in mind.

Would anyone else like to join in?

Jay
