Re: [science-iwg] Science.eclipse.org updated soon

A banner of pictures combining some of the spectacular astronomy/antenna ones with views on some of the participating institutes?

E.g. synchrotrons like Diamond can provide spectacular pictures (similar to the LHC one below) + some artistic shots of campuses/sites of other participating organisations + some "in-action" pictures like the one with Jay and Alex mentioned below?

You got me :-)

I think a technical picture is appropriate for the Science WG.
Furthermore, an Eclipse-based astronomy project would be awesome :-).

I wouldn't say inappropriate, just inaccurate. We don't do anything related to weapons.

I love the other pictures, btw. I've actually been thinking about proposing an Eclipse-based astronomy project. That community is heavily GPL/LGPL licensed though so it would be very challenging. I'm thinking instead I'll use the tech and do the project outside the group and Foundation.

Maybe we could something like this:

Are we going for something with a bit more science-y element or something that reflects the members of the community?

If the former, I like this pic of Jay & Alex I just saw in Wayne's post https://waynebeaton.wordpress.com/2016/02/01/swing-by-to-talk-about-swt-and-javafx/
Plus there was also this past pic of Torkild and Doreen sitting side-by-side with laptops with eclipse logos showing from an unconference a few years back (this pic gets reused for other conf so bet Roxanne could find it).
Plus additional site visit group shots?

Great idea! Wait until you see LocationTech's refresh. ;-)

It's not at night actually, but earth from space, which fit since many of the projects are aimed at processing & visualizing satellite data. For my part, I don't feel any strong objections to something similar for Science.

I wonder... we could do a collage of images from the cool places we've held our annual meetings so far. The ocean basin at MARINTEK, and the spaceship like Diamond would be cool. Not sure if we could get permission though.

As Torkild says, we should definitely take advantage of the slider if we go with project screenshots, which I also think is a really good idea.

We could also do something like a picture of Earth at night from space. I always think those are good.

Hi everyone,

While I agree that that it found be fun to have the map up there, I have to side with Andrea. Something more related to the science working group and the projects would be be better.

I noticed that the banner widget is a slider. So I propose we put up a collection of screenshots from our projects along with pictures from activities.

Best regards.
Torkild
