Torkild/all,
Sorry to see, the hangout is a bit too early in the day (10am ET, that's around or before 5pm CET;-O) Not only is the monthly STEM call at 6pm CET (because it's lead by committers in Almaden, California, so must be 10am their time) we have a big "Show and Tell" for our project here at work from 3pm and it's far from certain that will even finish by 6pm.
While Python is not my main language I did a lot with it in Denmark, so curious to see your minutes or what comes out as concrete steps. I guess Marcel from Bio7 might be on the list here. I remember he showed me Python scripting among other things when we met in Kiel earlier this year, so I assume he has some thoughts on the subject, too.
My Scandinavian colleagues with Python as their first language rarely contribute to Eclipse. One did with Hudson, but most of them have nothing to do with science or scientific projects. And their IDEs are called Emacs or Vi ;-D
DAWN is a sponsor of PyDev, so I trust they know or already use it there;-)
