Re: [science-iwg] SBIR funding opportunity

I have a feeling if I wrote 8, someone would have mentioned javafx was made available for 7.  As stated previously, please look at the larger picture; resources for Eclipse visualization that mutually help US labs and the private sector.

Thank you!

Yep, that uses Java 8 already ;-)

The statement, Java FX was "included" in Java 7 is not entirely true, see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16849992/jdk1-7s-javac-cant-find-javafx-jar-without-cp-option
Only from Java 8 on it became a first class citizen.

I apologize for not being very clear, I submitted the call for
applications.  I'm hoping this may help get the needed resources to
visualization in Eclipse that would profit both U.S. national labs and
small businesses.  I feel this call really captures the point of an SBIR.

Thank you!
Eric

Eric,

Thanks for sending this out. I wasn't  aware of that section in the SBIR
call, but it is very exciting. Are you writing a response to the call?

Please try not to focus in the java version, it will always be moving
forward.  The point is high performing visualization for Eclipse with an
editor and runtime for "screens" (with scripting access to objects, etc.).
A good example for graphing is the "graphene" project,
https://github.com/diirt/diirt/tree/master/graphene .  The editor could be
something similar to javafx scene builder.  Basically, we need to make UIs
for accelerator operations, and like many, we have started to hit limits
with our current design.

Thank you!
