Please try not to focus in the java version, it will always be moving forward. The point is high performing visualization for Eclipse with an editor and runtime for "screens" (with scripting access to objects, etc.). A good example for graphing is the "graphene" project, https://github.com/diirt/diirt/tree/master/graphene . The editor could be something similar to javafx scene builder. Basically, we need to make UIs for accelerator operations, and like many, we have started to hit limits with our current design.

Given, that Java 7 is no longer officially supported by Oracle (unless you got special support contracts and pay for them;-) it might run on Java 8 soon anyway...
