Re: [science-iwg] Creating a Science Working Group forum
|
Not at all. Good question actually.
I'm worried about the level of technical detail and overloading the list. I feel like, and perhaps erroneously so, that this list is not specifically for discussing development activities beyond planning. I want to start posting code snippets, writing long HOWTO type posts about methods and other stuff without cluttering up inboxes. I feel like a forum is a better venue for that. I am willing to be convinced otherwise of course, but mostly I'm scared of posting highly technical stuff to a list that doesn't end in "-dev." ;-)

Hey Jay,
I might be asking a dumb question, but why not have these discussions here on this discussion list?

Great! Thanks Matt!
Everyone,
Matt has created a forum for us. I propose that we move some of the following discussions to the forum and start trying to talk ourselves to death about them:
*Sharing code between Science WG projects (starting with DAWNSci and ICE).
*Getting HDF5 and other libraries into ORBIT.
*Planning for a Science WG get together in December.
Any other immediate suggestions?
Jay
