Re: [rt-pmc] Project lead election failed - need help

He was nominated as the Gemini Blueprint subproject lead, not the Gemini project lead.
Gunnar, you certainly remember that there are 6 subprojects of Gemini (3 of which have been at least *partially* active) and Gemini Blueprint is just one of them, right?

Don’t get me wrong, I am happy if he is willing to be the parent project lead, but I would have found it strange if the PMC were to suddenly appoint him the parent project lead without a) sending an email to the community or the forum b) contacting the current lead first.

Thanks,
-Mike

Hi Michael,

Thinks should all be sorted by now. We voted Olaf in as a new project lead.

Sorry, the Gemini project has gone mostly stagnant over the past couple of years and I have not been checking Eclipse email for a while and didn’t notice what was going on.

I was not clear that Olaf had volunteered to be the Gemini project lead; I thought he was being made the Gemini Blueprint lead. Is that what you meant, Gunnar?
As the leader of the Gemini parent project and the Gemini JPA subproject I would be happy to abdicate to someone who might be interested in taking over those as well. Not sure that Olaf has signed up for that, has he? I should also be removed from the PMC.

I will send an email out to the Gemini list, and on the forum, but they have been pretty deserted for a while and I’m not expecting to get many people jumping up and down wanting to take them over.

Thanks,
-Mike

PMC,

I've reviewed activity on the Gemini project.

The current project lead nominated Olaf back in September as a replacement for him.

The vote did not receive any -1 or 0 votes. Just one other +1 by Florian.

At this point, I'd like to propose we make use of PMC powers just appoint Olaf as the project lead as per EDP. Please cast your votes. We need an unanimous vote for this being successful.

If there is further discussion necessary before casing a vote, feel free to just reply in this thread.

Happy New Year!

Dear PMC,

Last year, my election to gemini blueprint project lead failed as the necessary number of votes could not be acquired in the allotted time: https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/rt.gemini.blueprint/elections/election-olaf-otto-project-lead-gemini-blueprint.

Thus, the project is effectively blocked until there is an active lead and the election fails because of inaction.

Any suggestions on how to proceed here?

Cheers,
Olaf
