we have started to develop against that b/c it seemed to provide the best
functionality that we will need.
at the time of the decision, we didn't know how involved the CQ process would
be ;(

i guess we could use another one but that would mean to "throw away" all the
code that we have now in that area and start anew, which is not quite feasible
when planning to provide a working app by the end of the year...

> Also, even if something was pre-req and exempt, that does not imply that it can be distributed from eclipse.org servers.

thanks for pointing that out but i didnt have that in mind (see below:
non-exmpt).
however, ur statement triggers another question/need for clarification:
as far as i understand it:
a) we can offer a dependency for distribution on eclipse *iff* its CQ has been
positively approved, right?
b) although exempt pre-req doesnt imply distribution from eclipse servers, it
neither implies they never can happen. hence, it is always a decision of the
PMC/EMO?

> Can the IP team clarify the meaning of "pre-req non-exempt". To me the
> "non-exempt" part means it is not allowed.

as far as i understand the guide the non-exempt applies to whether the
dependency is *exempt* from the IP process. and hence i think it must go
through the IP process.
