Re: [recommenders-dev] Gerrit enabled for org.eclipse.recommenders.git

Really looking for this kind of simple code submit solution for new comer solution :-)

Hi all,

as you may have noticed, the Eclipse Foundation hosts an instance of Gerrit Code Review tool for Eclipse projects. One advantage of Gerrit is the simplified handling of external contributions as we might face with Cheng, Tobias, and others in the near future.

With Gerrit, no patches need to be created and attached to Bugzilla anymore. Instead, contributors can submit their contributions to Gerrit and from there we (committers) can merge them into the codebase (assuming that the patches are less than 200-250 lines). See http://wiki.eclipse.org/Development_Resources/Handling_Git_Contributions#Gerrit for a detailed description on how to deal with contributions through Gerrit.

To make use of that simplified process, I've requested Gerrit to be enabled for recommenders (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=372131) Webmaster has already enabled Gerrit and I'm looking forward to the first external contributions ;)

Best,
Marcel
