Have you considered looking at how SWTBot does UI action recording ( https://wiki.eclipse.org/SWTBot/Generator ) ? I don't think it's the grain that's best for Platform macro implementaiton as it includes code-generation via a rules mechanism, but the way listener is set up and events are processed may be interesting to you.

Thanks for the tip, just got its source code to take a look at how it does things.
