[platform-ui-dev] appropriate content for mail list

The mail list is intended as a developer resource for those who are
working on that subproject. It is a forum for committers and those who are
participating in the development of that component. Dave is correct, "How
to" type questions should appear on the newsgroup so that the community
may participate. See the following at http://www.eclipse.org/mail/index.html:

"These lists are intended for questions and issues related to the
development and implementation of the actual subproject and component
code. The development mailing lists are the way design and implementation
issues are discussed and decisions voted on by the committers. Bug reports
should be logged to the bug database. Please don't mail bug reports into the developer mailing lists."

Hi,

I am confused. On Nov 15 and 16th two questions were posted in an email
to
this mailing list. The first concerned the tasks view, as shown below,
and
the second concerned view contribution to menus. Normally questions like
these would be posted to the Eclipse news group, and the community at
large
would answer them. This is probably a good way to go, because it leads to
general spread of knowledge outside those who are signed onto the ui
mailing list.

I object to the use of this mailing list as a pseudo news group with
direct
access to developer mind space. It is a waste of my time to get spammed
with questions.
