If it's clear that Nebula widgets will never graduate into SWT, then +1 for this new mission statement.

I don't think accepting the new mission statement would need to eliminate the possibility of a Nebula widget moving into SWT in the future, if that were deemed the best for both projects.  It would simply eliminate the implied progression path, the requirement of being ready to move into SWT from the beginning - Java1.4, single directory structure, etc. - and open up the project to accept other types of UI components, such as Viewers.
