1) Use 'mosquitto_pub' from the host with the broker to make a test
connection.  This lets you check the broker separately from your
program.  If that doesn't work, debug that that first.

3) You didn't say what kind of library/etc. you are using for the
client.  Ask the provider of that library for help.  If it's open source
and you want help here, send a link to where the code is available (and
if it's proprietary, I think it's good to mention that).
