Eric,

some of the projects have started to use a Hugo based solution that Chris Guindon has developed (https://github.com/EclipseFdn/hugo-solstice-theme). It fits nicely into the Eclipse Foundation website world.

Our main requirement is that we want to have things simple in the long run. Hence a simple CMS would be ideal for us. I am not sure how microservices would help - sounds a little over the top for what we need.
