I for one (as maintainer of the Java EPP package) frequently police my
package (e.g., [1-5]). In fact, most of the bugs (about 5-10 each time)
I report after testing a new EPP package are about small UI inconsistencies.

IMHO, EPP package maintainers are at the moment the closest thing we
have to product managers, so I feel responsible for pointing out these
often overlooked issues (e.g., missing HiDPI icons) and filing lots of
bugs with "minor" or "trivial" importance.

How do others see the role of package maintainers?
