The Eclipse Modeling Framework Tools
(EMFT) Creation Review has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 17, 1500 UTC.
See http://www.eclipse.org/org/processes/ (This is 11:00 AM Eastern time)
Why is this important to Higgins?
The Higgins project uses something
called EODM which was derived from
the OMG's
Ontology Definition Metamodel (ODM) and implemented in the Eclipse Modeling Framework
(EMF) by IBM AlphaWorks. EODM is a
run-time library that allows an application to put in and put out an RDFS/OWL
ontology in RDF/XML format; manipulate an ontology using Java objects; call an
inference engine and access inference results; and transform between ontology
and other models.
Many months ago, Paul Trevithick
asked IBM AlphaWorks to license EODM to Eclipse and IBM graciously said
yes! But before IBM could finalize the
hand off to Eclipse, there needed to be an appropriate home for EODM. The new EMFT project will be the new home for
EODM.
So please attend the Creation Review
to show Higgins team support for the creation of the EMFT project and the
licensing of EODM to Eclipse and to thank all the IBM and Eclipse people who
worked hard to make this happen.
