Re: [epp-dev] Neon M6 packages

The only way I know of is to remove BIRT from aggregation so it would not be in the Sim Release repo -- and respin.
In my local tests, this has two other effects:

1. MAT's "chart feature" needs to be disabled, since it depends on BIRT.
2. Also, then "Thym" fails to aggregate with the following message:
Software being installed: validationSet_main 1.0.0 Missing requirement: org.eclipse.thym.core 0.3.0.201506011443 requires 'bundle org.eclipse.wst.jsdt.core [1.1.0,2.0.0)' but it could not be found

(Bug Bug 490547 was opened for that one). This partially explains why p2 "preferred" the version it found in BIRT's repo, instead of the version in WTP's repo. (Though p2 might have anyway, depending on many factors).

I have sent an email to the BIRT contacts in their b3aggrcon file, but am not sure they are accurate. (bgamble@xxxxxxxxxxx and chezy@xxxxxxxxxxx).

BIRT being absent of course ripples to a whole EPP package. I am less sure how many packages MAT's missing feature would impact.

-1 for Java EE

It seems that all the WTP , DTP, and part of the platform content is being provided by the "birt" repository, and is all backlevel.
Is there a way to hide the birt repo since they don't have a M6 refresh?

Hi Package Maintainers,

based on our reworked plan I created the Neon M6 packages today after adding some final touches to them.

The packages can be downloaded for testing from the Hudson build at

https://hudson.eclipse.org/packaging/job/neon.epp-tycho-build/231/artifact/org.eclipse.epp.packages/archive/

Usually I'm asking for *successful* update/upgrade tests with the following two p2 repositories

http://download.eclipse.org/technology/epp/packages/neon/M6/

http://download.eclipse.org/releases/staging/

but this time it is different. Due to the structural changes [1] it seemed to be the best solution to prevent upgrades from earlier versions (see [2] for details). This is why I'm asking for *unsuccessful* upgrades this time, i.e. upgrades from M5 or earlier versions where no update is found.

Speaking of the structural change: Most package maintainers accepted their change in Gerrit (see [1]), but there are still some changes open in M6. I hope I can convince the remaining package maintainers until the next milestone to apply the change.

And finally some package changes: The Automotive package is now removed from our Git repository [4], and we'll see two new packages on the download page, the _javascript_ and Web Developers package [5], and the Android package [6].

For M7 I'm planning to finalize the remaining structural package changes, and review the changes required for the new Solistice Theme.

It would be best to get enough +1 votes until tomorrow / Tuesday to be able to release them at about 10am tomorrow.

Thanks for testing and a happy Easter Monday,
Markus
