Re: [ee4j-pmc] Jakarta Bean Validation release approval

Releases of specification projects operate under the Eclipse Foundation Development Process (EDP) augmented by the Eclipse Foundation Specification Process (EFSP).

From the EMO's POV, before a release review will be declared successful, we need:

1) IP Log approved by the IP Team;
2) Release and corresponding review materials approved by the PMC; and
3) Specifications approved by the specification committee.

These approvals can be sought in an order or in parallel.

It is up to the individual parties to determine the basis on which they will approve.

Minimally... the EMO needs the PMC's approval to mean that--to the best of their knowledge and ability--they believe that the project team has correctly implemented the EDP and that the release conforms to the scope defined by the top level project's charter.

The review is scheduled to conclude on October 7. From the EMO's perspective, we have everything that we need in place to declare a successful release review.

Wayne

I can see that
https://github.com/jakartaee/specification-committee/issues/39 has not
been touched yet

Correct me if I'm wrong but as I understand it:

Ballot - an approval from the Jakarta EE WG for the release/a process
defined by the spec committee
Release review - an approval from Eclipse Foundation for the release/a
process defined by Eclipse Foundation

* both can run in parallel; EF/EMO will wait for ballot to conclude and
approve the release if and only if ballot passes
* each checks different things (ie IP log, vendors' expectations,...)
* one needs to get both approvals in order to publish the release

not re-release, new minor release had to be done; projects affected by
these requirements in the past were eclipselink, jsonp/b (one of them,
don't remember which one exactly).
