Please share/suggest your ideas on the thread, but putting it on the agenda for the next call and having a discussion and decisions regarding the Comunity Day may be necessary. 

I will not be able to attend the call on the 28th, but will catch up with one of you or read meeting minutes.

At EclipseCon France, we did a MicroProfile workshop on the Community Day using the online learning Guides we have developed for OpenLiberty.io.  It went over quite well.  Good attendance and good participation.  We could do something like that at ECE, if desired.  

Given the current state of Jakarta EE, it's kind of hard to do a workshop.  Having a BOF-like session on the Specification process may be doable, but kind of boring (imho).  It still might be well attended just because people may be interested in finding out the current state.

If we actually have a certified, compliant version of Eclipse Glassfish that is Java EE 8 compatible, then that might be a good session.  Talk about that testing process and what it took to pull that off.

Whatever type of "big message" that we're doing at OC1 should be repeated at ECE.  If we have good news to share at OC1, then let's share that same good news at ECE.

Hello EE4J-PMC,

as EclipseCon Europe 2018 is fast approaching, we would like to have as an agenda item on the next EE4J PMC call the Jakarta EE and MicroProfile Community Day organization. 

We have a room with classroom-like setup, with a capacity of about 130 people dedicated to Jakarta EE and MicroProfile.

Can we get an input from the  PMC on what type of activities we should plan for this event? Here are some of the questions
  • Who from the PMC is going to EclipseCon Europe 2018?
  • What can we do on the Jakarta EE and MicroProfile Community Day?
    • for example, we can possibly do Specification related conversation (current state and future)
  • What other activities we can plan? Can we do hands-on of some type on MicroProfile?
The goal is to make the plan and identify activities / presenters / owners, by mid-September so we can advertise to ensure attendance, as well as presenters.
