The Java EE and javax.* names leverage the Java trademark, and indicate that the source of these technologies is Oracle and community processes managed by Oracle.

I recollect the strategy that Oracle (previously Sun) followed for the usage of com.sun.* packages after their acquisition of Sun and so far till the Jigsaw modularization. Oracle considered it an effective strategy to steer the community to use java.* and javax.* package naming conventions which were more aligned to the Java platform than to a company. This was one of the fundamental moves that ensured the openness of the Java EE platform. So far, we have all seen how effective that strategy (and its execution) has been.

We need to learn from that and concentrate our efforts so that the future of enterprise Java platform is not encumbered by the trademarks of a single commercial entity.
