Short answer is "Patch" - see docs hereĀ https://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/build_types.html

They are generally used for new Java version support before they are merged to the main branch.

There are build type descriptions for R, S, I, M, N. So far, so good. Now, JDT Core seems to have P builds as well:
