I think you answered your own question.

"<releng> waits for contributions for a rebuild".

There is a schedule of "predefined builds" on the releng project page.  Error email is sent out when builds fail.  After that we follow eclipse-dev waiting for the teams to report build failures, report intended fixes and finally, report when their fix is in.

Nightly builds are not, as a rule, rebuilt although it is nice that teams are now posting reasons and fixes for nightly build failures.  Integration builds are repeated until we pass.

These parameters where sent to eclipse-dev list some time ago and things have been working well since then.  However, I will update the build schedule page with comments as to what triggers a rebuild.

In general RelEng wants to get out of the business of wielding the big "spanking stick".  We expect teams to let us know when they have released fixes for the build.

Since then, no other announcement was made when and if a new build would
start. Our fault is that we did not write to the list that the problem was
actually fixed on Wednesday Morning. It is not very clear at which time or
upon which event the rebuild actually happens. I can remember having seen
release engineering posting a message that it waits for contributions for a
rebuild. This time nothing happened.
Is there an official procedure/protocol to follow?

There has been no rebuild since we have received no word from the JDT/UI
team that they are ready for a rebuild.

Hi,

I send this message, because I wonder why no new integration builds have
been done since 1210. The last build was not completely green due to a
problem in JDT/UI tests setup.
I remember a message called "Changes in Eclipse build strategy" sent at the
end of October that explained the strategy to get a integration build with
all tests passed.

This is an extract from this message: "In short every Tuesday the
integration builds will be run until ALL automated tests pass. ".

Then why we didn't apply this for the last integration build?

We have no proof that the JDT/UI setup is not hiding something more
serious. As long as there is no rebuild, we don't know.
