The 2 weeks are no hard requirement. From my experience with GSoC in the last 3 years it tends to get stressy short before the ‘pencils down’ date. Students often forget that pushing your code does not necessarily mean that you are done. Code needs to pass a review and often needs some improvements. If we start that process 2 days before the deadline we likely will not be able to finish in time. So the time planning is up to you, the 2 weeks are just an advise from my side.
