Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] migration of existing Eclipse projects to EPL v2

We're starting to assemble an FAQ. An answer to that question is in it.

https://www.eclipse.org/org/documents/epl-2.0/faq.php

Basically, a project can use the new version by simply updating the file headers and notices. Note that it would be good community practice to discuss this change on your public mailing lists, and to make every attempt to ensure that downstream users are aware of the change.

I need to add a bit about informing the EMO so that we can update the project's metadata.

A follow-on question: ÂEPL v1.0 Â7 says:

The Program (including Contributions) may always be distributedÂsubject to the version of the Agreement under which it wasÂreceived. In addition, after a new version of the Agreement isÂpublished, Contributor may elect to distribute the ProgramÂ(including its Contributions) under the new version.

This sounds like we need to obtain permission from the contributors to use EPL v2.0?

Hi,
Â
in the last newsletter I read: âStarting immediately, the new license will become the default license for Eclipse community projects.â And in the press release: âThe Eclipse open source project community will begin to migrate to the new EPL v2. Each Eclipse project will need to go through process of updating their project license and license headers to specify EPL v2. Users and adopters of Eclipse projects should expect the next release of each Eclipse project will be using EPL v2.â.
Â
Is there a Wiki page or something comparable with details on this migration process?
Â
Thanks,
Henrik
