Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Nighty snapshots for simrel and EPPMars.2

Probably better asked on epp-dev list, but I'll tell you what I know.

To get a "nightly" EPP repo, you would have to use "last successful" repo on Hudson, which has a URL of
https://hudson.eclipse.org/packaging/job/mars.epp-tycho-build/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/org.eclipse.epp.packages/archive/repository/

I always forget, and have to start at the EPP home page [1] to get the right links, which still take some "drilling down" to find the repository, instead of the packages. And, for Neon, you'd just have to "type over" the 'mars' part of URL and use 'neon' instead.

BUT THEN, you would have to be sure what you wanted was actually in there. I have not, for example, updated the Eclipse and Equinox contribution past our Mars.1 release.
That is, until just now. :) So should get an 'update' in a few hours for you to try out. And this was using our Platform build from M20151209-1000. I would never contribute a "nightly" to EPP (we do not even have "nightlies" of our Mars.2 stream), and I do not believe EPP has any concept of a true "nightly". It is simply rebuilt whenever anyone makes a new contribution.

As always, caution is urged and these builds would not be for anyone using them "for production".  But, otherwise, it's great to get the early testing.

Hope this helps,

Hi all,

Some users have been asking how to get into their IDE the patches for SWT on GTK. Although those patch are available and merged, it remains quite tricky for users of Mars.1 to retrieve them. Indeed, the only 2 alternatives I'm aware of are:
1. create a new install of Eclipse SDK from Platform 4.5 nightly build (and re-install everything they need)
2. Install the Platform feature from the 4.5 nightly build (which will most likely trigger remediation because of the version change in SWT bundle)
None of those 2 is very smooth.

So, for those users, the best thing would be to be able to point them to a nightly build of Mars.2 and EPP packages, containing the latest build of Eclipse 4.5.2. Then users could add this site to their available software sites, and try a "Check for updates"/
Is such a site available? Would it be possible to create it?

Cheers,
